Crenshaw comes into Jackson's life to help him through a really rough time in his life. Studies have found that imaginary friends actually make people happier when they are adults than those who didn't have imaginary friends. Crenshaw may not be the type of friend that we want though, sometimes he is too truthful. This book makes you realize that you have a lot to be thankful for, friends really do matter, and nothing can get so bad that you can't work through it. Enjoy this book as you learn about life and the fact that you have a lot to be thankful for. |
Activity OneJackson and Robin have to choose special possessions to put in their “keepsake bags” before the family has a yard sale. If you were given one grocery bag and asked to choose which keepsakes from your life to save, what would you place in the bag, and why? Either make a list or draw a picture of a bag and include your items in it. Remember, it has to fit into the bag.

Activity TwoJackson and Robin’s parents are both musicians, and music is very important to them; in fact, they named their children after the companies that made their guitars. They especially like the music of guitarist B. B. King and singer Aretha Franklin. Listen to recordings of both of these performers, and think about how the music makes you feel, and why you think these performers were so important to the parents. Please make sure your paper is at least a page long.

Activity ThreeWhen did Crenshaw first appear to Jackson? Why do you think he was needed then? What events led to Crenshaw leaving Jackson the first time he appeared? Why do you think Crenshaw came back into Jackson's life now? Brainstorm 5 questions you would ask Crenshaw if you sat down with him in real life. Have you ever had an imaginary friend? Describe him/her to me. Make sure your paper is at least a page long.
