Activity OneSelect 6 photographs from the Great Depression which illustrate part of the setting of To Kill a Mockingbird.
Create a caption to describe each photo. Select and include an excerpt or quote from the novel to explain the photos and captions. Compile your photos, captions, and quotations to construct a collage. Copy and paste images into Powerpoint or another desktop presentation tool. Use the text tool to create your captions. Or, copy and print out the images and word process the captions, then assemble on a poster board. If you have another idea for a presentation, go with it!! Just make sure I know that you have read the book with your presentation. Send/share it with me at [email protected]. |
Activity TwoBecome Scout and create an annotated scrapbook of at least 10 pages. On each page, paste in something that reflects some aspect of Scout’s experience growing up. Make sure that at least two items are written--for example a letter from Dill, a
newspaper article, or a diary entry. Annotate each entry as Scout, explaining why she is saving this item. |
Activity ThreeSuppose that you are working with a film crew on a new movie of To Kill a Mockingbird. How would be the present day actors/actresses you would choose to portray the lead characters in the book? Create a poster that describes what the book is about as well as the people who are in the movie. You need to include at least five characters, and the people who play them need to be alive today. You can create this on posterboard or on the computer, the choice is yours.
