Losers Take All
                Grades 3-8

In this table-turning novel about the thrill of defeat and the agony of victory, the new rule at Jack Logan's sports-crazy New Jersey high school is that all kids must play on a team. So Jack and a ragtag group of anti-athletic friends decide to get even. They are going to start a rebel JV soccer team whose mission is to avoid victory at any cost, setting out to secretly undermine the jock culture of the school. But as the team's losing formula becomes increasingly successful at attracting fans and attention, Jack and his teammates are winning in ways they never expected-and don't know how to handle.

Jack Logan is the youngest member of a small town sports dynasty family: His father is a local football legend, known as “The Logan Express,” and his brothers had equally storied high school sports careers. Jack, however, has no time for sports, which is the source of tension between he and his dad to start with; but when the long time school principal dies in front of a huge crowd trying to break a track record, things go from bad to worse for Jack.

I wasn't athletic, but neither was my family. I can't imagine what I'd do if I was forced to play on a team. You all know me, not the athletic type, am I!! It doesn't mean that I don't have other talents, it's just not kicking a ball down a field. What would you do if you were forced into something you didn't like? This book opens up a lot of different thoughts as we move through its pages.
